pastor

For I determined not to know anything among you, save JESUS CHRIST, and Him crucified.”

– I Corinthians 2:2

Rev. Victor J. Grigsby received the call to Pastor the Central Baptist Church of Pittsburgh, PA in December of 1996. Under his leadership, God has prospered the Central Baptist Church in all areas of Christian administration and spiritual development with an outgrowth of more than thirty life-changing ministries. Rev. Grigsby continues to redefine Urban Ministry in social context. Through his labors of love the church has tripled in membership, birthed sons and daughters into the Gospel Ministry, and has created an atmosphere of praise and worship. Rev. Grigsby is truly a servant of God, a scholar and teacher of His Holy Word. Under the divine guidance of our risen Lord, Rev. Grigsby says, “…the vision is clear. Anointed worship, social impact, economic empowerment and educational strength are the vital pieces of creating a ministry that will meet the needs of this present age and challenge us to seek greater evangelistic opportunity.”

Through a twenty year Master Development Plan, Rev. Grigsby has expressed his “God-given vision” to build a Life Development Center, Christian Academy, Senior Housing facility, and a Commercial and Retail Development Center. The first phase of this Commercial and Retail Development plan has been completed. Ribbon Cutting service for “The Victory Center” was held on Sunday, December 21, 2003, and its completion serves as part of Rev. Grigsby’s vision toward spiritual renewal and social revitalization in the community. The Second Phase of church renovation is underway, lighted tri-cross on the front of the church, new lighting throughout the sanctuary and repairs to the exterior of the church are moving forward with a completion date of December 2020.

Rev. Grigsby is involved in numerous civic, social and political activities. He has led the Allegheny Union Baptist Association (A.U.B.A.) as Vice-President of Christian Education, was the A.U.B.A. Kiski Area Vice-Moderator, and formerly served as President of the Hill District Ministers Alliance. He has served on various committees which include: The Christian Associates of Western PA Theological Advisory Committee, Vice-President of the Allegheny County Prison Advisory Board, The One Church One Child Adoption Program, and the Board of the Sunrise Home Transitional Living Facility. He was inducted into the Morehouse College Board of Preachers in 2000, and also received the NAACP Humanitarian Effort Award, in 2014, Faith in Action. In March of 2014, Rev. Grigsby collaborated with the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and SCUPE, (Seminary Consortium for Urban Pastoral Education) as an instructor in Public Theology.  Rev. Grigsby was an Adjunct faculty member and mentor in Field Placement Curriculum at the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, 2016-2017.  Currently, he is  enrolled in the Communication and Rhetorical Studies PhD program at Duquesne University and serves as Adjunct Faculty teaching Business and Professional Communication.

Rev. Grigsby has a heart for Missions.  He has planted seed in various Ministries throughout the City of Pittsburgh, the state of Pennsylvania, and the continental U.S. providing opportunity for churches to reach the lost and grow their ministry. Rev. Grigsby has organized missions to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and house the homeless.  In 2018, Rev. Grigsby’s greatest mission accomplishment has been his partnership with the Enon Tabernacle Baptist International Fellowship to Capetown, South Africa where over two thousand children celebrated Christmas with a Christmas meal and Christmas gifts. He also has a heart for the KinderSmile Foundation a 2019 partnership with Haiti, whose mission is to increase oral care access and oral care education to disadvantaged youth and pre-natal mothers.

Rev. Grigsby married Vickie LaVerne McKenzie in 1983 and from their union they are blessed with seven beautiful children. Mrs. Grigsby is an inspiring role model, and her testimony is a sincere love for the Word of God.

Surely, Rev. Grigsby is “a man after God’s own heart,” and simply awaits the day he can hear his Lord say,

“Well done thou good and faithful servant.”
